We use doTerra Essential Oils at Energetics. doTerra means gift of the earth, and these Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade (CPTG) oils are just that. The effectiveness of the oils depends on the soil pH and soil components, altitude, time and manner of harvest, and quality of distillation. Unfortunately, our government’s laws are not very stringent about the purity rating of oils yet, and there are many oils out there claiming to be pure when they are principally carrier oils with a minimum amount of the oil listed on the label actually present.
Lesser quality oils are produced from plants not grown in the ideal conditions mentioned above, and at high pressure, high temperatures, rapid processing, and with the use of chemical solvents. They smell okay, but have no therapeutic value. It’s good to know doTerra oils are regularly checked for their purity and efficacy of their chemical constituents in doTerra’s own lab. Beyond this, Dr Cochran periodically spot checks the oils in an independent lab of his choosing.

A Little Background on Essential Oils
Essential oils are natural aromatic compounds found in seeds, bark, leaves, stems, roots, flowers, and fruit of plants found all over the world. They are naturally anti-microbial, and create an immediate systemic effect strengthening the entire body, promoting vitality and well being.
They have been used for thousands of years and are very therapeutic and powerful cleansing agents.
Pure, therapeutic grade essential oils have many benefits because they are the regenerating, oxygenating and immune defense of plants. They contain up to 200 identifiable chemical constituents that produce multi-layered effects. They quickly penetrate the skin and can be circulating throughout the body in @20 minutes, penetrating cell walls to be metabolized like any other nutrient.
They provide cells with oxygen, thus stimulating the immune system. They are powerful antioxidants, preventing mutations, and destroying free radicals. They can destroy fungus, mold, virus, bacteria, parasites, and serve as antiseptics. They can detoxify the body’s cells and blood. Some oils can pass through the blood-brain barrier and have positive effects on brain conditions. Because essential oils are aromatic, diffusing them into the air can clean the air of toxins, and increase oxygen, ozone and negative ions to inhibit bacterial growth and to destroy unpleasant odors.
Pure, therapeutic grade essentials oils are most commonly steam-distilled, sometimes cold-pressed, and it can take several hundred pounds to several thousand pounds of plant material to produce one pound of essential oil. They are 70 times more concentrated than the plant form., for example, 1 drop of pure Peppermint Oil = 28 cups of peppermint tea.
Unadulterated oils have no shelf life, as evidenced by the discovery of hundreds of still usable liters of essential oils found in King Tut’s tomb in the 1920’s.
They may be applied topically, inhaled, ingested, used in the bath, a massage or add to sparkling water for a tasty spritzer, depending upon the oil and the necessity.
